1) “Book Covers” / “Report Cards”

A very popular variation these days, that showcase the event’s theme in a distinctive manner. One look at the invitation card, you will know what to expect. Despite its simple appearance, you still be able to make an impact on your event, with strong storyboarding.

Such was the case when we organised a “Back To School” themed event for one of our clients, we incorporated a “report card” element in the invitation, where the attendees would have to participate in the various pre-event activities, get themselves “graded” before they claim their “graduation token”, which was their door gifts.

This just shows that with innovation, you can turn an invitation card into a card of fun!

2) Gatefold

A useful, but unorthodox way for your event invitation. The gatefold variation of an invitation card is usually used for themes of mystic elements. The unfolding of the invitation card is meant to be a form of unraveling secrets or mysteries, thus suitable for themes such as “Masquerade”, “Halloween Nights”.

For this instance, we were showcasing a unique theme of “Neon Jungle”, where mother nature takes upon a different outlook. We wanted the attendees to unveil a never-seen-before landscape, a place where no man had been, a venture into a brand new world.

A point of note would be due to its complex framework, it would require precise designing of the invitation card.

3) Pocket Size Cards

Another well-liked type of event invitation due to its size as it is portable for event attendees. As you can see, this type of invitation would look like credit cards, poker cards, or even EZ-Link cards for some cases.

Hence, this is often used for themes like “Crazy Rich Asians”, “007”, and “So Singapore”. As shown in the picture, the card on the left was a hotel room card where we had the guests “check-in” to the “Grand Budapest Hotel”. While the card on the right was the invitation card for a “Casino-Royale” themed event, where the guests can all play their part as James Bond for the night.

From this, invitation cards can also turn into replicas of real-life objects. These are sure to be worthy of an Instagram-moment.

4) Passports

If you are in for a flight, why not have your passport with you? Passports as invitation cards are generally used for themes that embody adventures, such as “Around The World”.

The objective of this event as shown in the picture above, was to have the attendees to venture and explore the various parts of the attraction. The passport cover contained the event information, and the rest of the pages were used for the attendees to collect “stamps”, as they visit from one part to another.

Another feature of this invitation card is that it can also be coupled as a program booklet, thus it is suitable if you require to furnish a significant amount of event details for your guests.

This type of invitation card is usually used for themes with high, intensive neon and futuristic elements. As we know, futuristic events are highly popular these days with its empowering message. You may consider using holographic cards for such events, as it is visually pleasing to the eyes as well.

However, we do like to note that holographic cards usually come at a high cost due to the equipment involved to produce prints of this scale.

6) Pop-Up Visuals

Lastly, we would like to showcase an option for an invitation card, that goes beyond its usual 2D format. Pop-up visuals bring event invitations to life with its 3D presentation.

For this example, we showcased the beauty of a magical theme with a pop-up visual of a castle, which was billed as the event venue, the “place” where the guests who are the “characters”, will relive the story chapters by chapters, as the event goes on.

Similar to the holographic cards, this option would incur a significant cost for production due to its intricate work for the pop-up visuals.
